Expressionist works from Brussels
Discover the Work
Welcome to the gallery of Jérôme Selosse, a Brussels‐based expressionist painter whose work captures the raw energy of the human being. Through oil, pastel and black-stone drawing on paper or linen, each piece is a moment of emotion made visible.
Artistic Univers
Selosse’s work is guided by an intensity of gesture and colour: bold strokes, strong contrasts, corporal forms, and vibrant tones. The aim is to speak to the viewer directly, before thought, through the unfiltered presence of colour and line.
Themes Explored
- The Cry – an inner eruption where form breaks and the soul stands exposed.

- Dance & Movement – bodies in motion, suspended gestures, rhythm and echo.

- Seduction & Eroticism – skin, breath, tension of gazes, ritual of silhouettes.

- Identities & Light – portraits elongated, features simplified; the inner self revealed.

- Magic & Totems – primitive signs, apparitions, iconography born from instinct.

Techniques & Formats
Working on paper and canvas of varying formats (from A4 sketchbooks to 100×150 cm and larger), Selosse employs mixed techniques: oil on paper or linen, pastels (dry & oil), black stone drawing, sanguine, wax/oil grounds, epoxy resin for surface tension and transparency, layered glazes and impastos. Colour harmonies focus on complementary pairs (yellow/violet, blue/orange, red/green) and strong temperature and value contrasts.
